The Project

Anpadh is a self-initiated short film that tells the story of a young girl navigating societal restrictions around education in a patriarchal village setting. Shot entirely on an iPhone, the film was independently created, with full responsibility taken across scripting, direction, cinematography, and editing to bring the narrative to life.

The Purpose

The film aims to shed light on the deeply rooted mindset that limits women’s access to education, while emphasizing the importance of internal change within families. Rather than only highlighting the issue, it focuses on hope—showing how support from within, especially male allies, can challenge and shift generational beliefs.

The Approach

The storytelling avoids portraying the protagonist as a victim, instead presenting her journey through a lens of resilience and possibility. With a raw, grounded visual style enabled by iPhone filmmaking, the narrative remains intimate and real. The approach centers on emotional authenticity, subtle storytelling, and a hopeful tone that reflects evolving societal change.

Anpadh

Anpadh is a socially driven short film that explores the realities of gender bias in rural education, highlighting the quiet strength of women and the transformative power of allyship within families, ultimately offering a hopeful narrative of change.
